• Clarendon High School: An evening of music and celebration to mark Founders Day with a concert on Friday and Saturday, at 8.30pm. This event features a rich variety of musical performances across genres and instruments, including appearances by the De Novo Serenata chamber choir, and Classic Pan, the top-tier steel drum band. The Lady Clarendon Hall will offer limited dinner-theatre-style table seating (for eight) at the front (bring own snacks and drinks) and rows of standard seating at the back. • Merrifield Preparatory School and College presents Shrek, The Musical, based on the film with the same title. It follows a grumpy ogre Shrek (played by Eoin Mac Kriel), who teams up with the hilarious Donkey (Othandwayo Maqula) to rescue Princess Fiona (Charissa Mac Kriel and Inathi Tofa) from a tower for the scheming Lord Farquaad (Avuzwa Cekiso). Directed and choreographed by Marc Williams, with musical direction by Nathan Johannisen. The show opens at the Guild Theatre on Thursday and runs until Saturday. Evening shows start at 6.30pm, with a 1pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets are R150 for adults, R120 for pupils, available from Computicket.

• Sixth annual Women in Business Talk at Hemingways at 2pm. Topics include Sars compliance, tax incentives, and correct filing (with tax educator Boitumelo Ngcozela), dressing for success (with makeup artist and fashion consultant Tina Shevu), and funding and tenders (with entrepreneur Yamkela Nkomo-Sokaliwe).
