Friday 5

• The Cultured Roots Film Festival runs until September 8, celebrating African cinema, storytelling and creativity. Hosted by SivuBuhle Media, the festival features film screenings, masterclasses, panel discussions and live performances across multiple venues. Highlights include Chotsi Ntsomi, a Dumza Maswana documentary which will be screened at House 87 from 6pm on Friday. MXO is at Legends showcase from 7pm on Saturday. Tickets are available online at R200 for daytime screening, R150 for evening and R500 for the full package, with options for full passes or single-evening entries.

Saturday 6

• The Impolo Yabahlobo Family Day is from 9am to 7pm at the Jan Smuts Stadium, Graham Road, Arcadia. The festival marks Umhlobo Wenene FM’s 65-year anniversary and features performers such as Ringo Madlingozi, Lloyiso, Zee Nxumalo, Mr Thela and Yanga Chief, alongside other artists and DJs. Tickets are available through Computicket at R100 for children, R250 for general admission, R800 for VIP and cooler boxes for R150.

• A Fishy Tail Quest at the East London Aquarium. A fun, family-friendly entertaining adventure for children to enjoy. Each quest lasts about an hour. Book your spot between 9am and  2pm. Cost R75 per person, includes entry to the aquarium. Contact 074-538 4438 for more details.

• Strut for Hope: The annual Guardians of Hope SA gala fundraiser is from 5pm to 11pm at The Venue, Hemingways. Shoppers can browse local stalls, while fitness enthusiasts take on the fun run challenge, making it a perfect day out for all ages. Free entrance. • Easy Life Kitchens launches its MasterChef-style Cooking Competition at 2pm at its premises in Beacon Bay Crossing. Sunday 7

• Kidd’s Beach: Avalon Market from 10am to 2pm at the Hillcrest Equestrian venue. The market offers a relaxed country atmosphere, with stalls selling clothing, plants, pet accessories and more. Families can enjoy delicious food, ranging from pancakes and burgers to pizza and coffee, while children are entertained with jumping castles, sand art and pony rides. Thursday 11

• Circus Extravaganza 2025 from September 11 to 13 at The Guild Theatre. Featuring dancers aged three to 20, the production showcases a colourful mix of ballet, hip-hop, tap, modern, Spanish and jazz, celebrating themes of connection and friendship. Showtimes are Thursday and Friday at 6.30pm, with two performances on Saturday at 2.30pm and 6.30pm. Tickets cost R150 per person and are available from Computicket.

• Abbotsford Christian School presents Christmas in September with its musical production, the Hallelujah Christmas Cruise. Audiences can look forward to students performing a selection of festive songs guaranteed to spread holiday cheer. The show also runs on Friday at 6.30pm at the Abbotsford Christian Centre. Tickets are R100 at the venue, with advance pricing options available.

Friday 12
