The husband of one of the two businesswomen who were shot and killed execution style in Limpopo appeared in the Polokwane magistrate's court without a legal representative on Tuesday morning.
Makoena Mabusela-Leshabane, 46, a senior aviation finance consultant, and her friend Tebogo Mphuti, 35, who was in the construction and property sector, were gunned down in a suspected hit while they were about to view a warehouse to rent in Magnavia, Polokwane, on October 10.
Mabusela's husband Thabo Leshabane, 56, told the court that he last spoke to his lawyer John Mohoto last week and he did not know why he didn't show up in court.
"We spoke on Tuesday with my lawyer and he indicated that he will be in court today. I don't know the circumstances that led him not showing up in court," he said.
Magistrate Jenin Ungerer said in the absence of Leshabane 's lawyer, she would allow the other four accused in the matter to apply for bail.
Leshabane is appearing alongside his co-accused Ndondo Mbekezi Buthelezi, 25, John Richard Zulu, 30, Bhekinlenzo Sfiso Phigose, 34, and Emanuel Tembtiani Dlamini, 30.
During his bail application, Buthelezi told the court that he intends on pleading not guilty to murder and conspiracy to murder charges.
Buthelezi added that he stays in Katlehong on the East Rand and worked as car guard at the Germiston taxi rank.
He said he can only afford R5,000 bail.
The hearing continues.
