Young AmaRharhabe King Jonguxolo Vululwandle Sandile has made a passionate plea to his people to obey the new level 3 coronavirus regulations.
The 28-year-old took the throne in August, just days after he lost his mother, Queen Noloyiso Sandile, to Covid-19 on July 8 2020.
In his royal year-end message, Sandile said: “The coronavirus has brought about an unprecedented year and forced us to do things differently. We have had to adapt our customs and practices to save lives."
Stressing that the virus attacked all people, from royals and politicians to shepherds and children, he urged: “Wear your mask, wash your hands and keep your distance.”
This was a small price to pay compared to burying loved ones, he said. “Make changes in your way of life. We, the AmaRharhabe, have been hit hard by this virus.
“Thousands have died, and millions have been affected. Let us all raise our game and fight this virus by observing the regulations and protocols and advice from the government. Let us all unite against this coronavirus by staying at home.”
