Bhisho Hospital will be the recipient of the first CPAP machines as Gift of the Givers races against time to install the oxygen delivery apparatus into numerous hospitals, clinics and ambulance services in the Eastern Cape.
These devices are a symbol of hope after weeks of trepidation and sadness consumed front line healthcare workers. With its simplicity, versatility and efficacy, the CPAP machines have been eagerly awaited by hospital CEO's, emergency medicine specialists and nursing managers.
Gift of the Givers have also created a 120-bed dedicated Covid-19 facility at Bhisho Hospital, providing the beds, mattresses, pillows, scrubs, pulse oximeters, non-contact thermometers, High Flow Nasal Oxygen machines, PPE's and a lawnmower to cut the overgrown grass.

The Gift of the Givers building team worked through the festive season to complete a R3 million upgrade of doctors’ quarters to help retain staff.
Sister Phumla Mnyanda, head and CEO of Bhisho Hospital, received the machines during the official handover which took place on Wednesday 30 December.
Deliveries were also made to Frere Hospital, Cecilia Makawane, Lady Grey, SS Gida, Fort Beaufort, and other hospitals throughout the province.
KZN, Gauteng and North West will also be receiving devices provided by Gift of the Givers, with the Northern Cape set to follow.

The CPAP machines were funded by the Solidarity Fund, with Gift of the Givers, who have 12,000 machines at their disposal, personally delivering the machines to areas that had specifically requested them.
