The attempted robbery case involving an East London-born humanitarian and public figure and seven others was postponed on Thursday to December 2 for trial at the East London magistrate’s court.
Al Percino Shearer, better known as Dr Cino, appeared briefly before regional court magistrate Twanet Olivier, alongside his co-accused Isaac Warrant, Sonwabile Mafanya, Patison Ncube, Dina Gunuza, Lindile Mhlathi, Siphele Mase and Camagu Zimela.
Shearer, Ncube, Warrant, Gunuza, Mhlathi are on bail, while Mafanya, Mase, and Zimela are in custody.
They were arrested in July 2018 by the Hawks for allegedly planning to rob a butchery which they believed had R70m on the premises.
During Thursday’s brief court proceedings, prosecutor Luvuyo Vena asked for a postponement to December 2 and 3.
All the suspects had legal representation in court.
Shearer recently made headlines when he was allegedly exposed for lying about his qualifications as a clinical psychologist.
