A wildfire that broke out in Rondevlei near Knysna was contained early on Tuesday morning.
The fire was doused by the Garden Route District Municipality and Knysna Municipality firefighters, along with SANParks.
Rondevlei is situated southwest of the Lakes Nature Reserve and close to Pine Lake Marina in Sedgefield.
Garden Route district municipality spokesperson Herman Peters said the Knysna municipality firefighters had requested assistance from Garden Route District.
“Firefighters who battled the wildfire on [Monday evening] and into the early morning hours of [Tuesday] managed to contain it,” Peters said.
“The ground crew will focus on mopping up the area.
He said rainfall was expected at about 2pm on Tuesday.
“It will help firefighters ensure that the Rondevlei area remains safe,” he said.
