Former KwaZulu-Natal’s ANC secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli said he is looking forward to work with the party’s new secretary general Fikile Mbalula.
Ntuli lost to Mbalula for the position after receiving 1,080 votes against Mbalula’s 1,692. Former Eastern Cape premier Phumulo Masualle, who also contested the position, received 1,590.
Speculation is rife that Ntuli might be the ANC’s new national spokesperson after Pule Mabe indicated he was ready to vacate the position.
“I have told the SG (secretary general Mbalula) when I congratulated him that I am at his disposal. I am one of the comrades in the ANC who understands that conferences are events. When we are done with the conference, the new leadership must be supported by all of us,” said Ntuli.
On Monday, while addressing the media, Mbalula said he was ready to utilise Ntuli’s skills in the ANC national office.
Ntuli said a “firm leadership” was needed in order to deal with “factional tendencies” in different parts of the provinces.
Meanwhile the voting process for the party’s new national executive members was still underway on Tuesday afternoon.
