When the red carpet is rolled out in Namibia in February, 22-year-old Eastern Cape model and modelling coach Melissa Ndzube will be one of the people in the spotlight.
Ndzube, who hails from Qonce, has been invited to act as the master of ceremonies at the Face of Africa International Beauty Pageant, an event that celebrates African beauty and talent.
She is a co-founder of Our Legacy in Arts, Modelling and Beauty Academy, which is based in Qonce and has on its books more than 50 young models who aim to walk down big stages one day.
Ndzube, who is also a content creator, started modelling at the age of 10.
She was introduced to beauty pageants by her mom.
“I started modelling at an early age. I believe for me it’s a platform to reach more young lives to inspire them and show them that every dream is indeed valid.
“I have more than 50 young girls I mentor in both the Our Legacy in Arts, Modelling and Beauty Academy, and Miss King William’s Town, aged six to 23 years.
“I was head hunted on Instagram by Face of Africa International to host their pageant on February 4 in Namibia.
“They saw a video of me being a red carpet host in Mr and Miss Bizana High Schools last year and they wanted me to host their pageant.”
Ndzube has received many accolades as a model.
“I have won quite a number of titles but the most recent was being named best modelling coach in the municipalities of South Africa.”
She said her aim was to teach models how to stay grounded and hoped young women understood the importance of self-discovery.
“I stand for becoming a tangible representation of a dream realised.”
