East London police are searching for three armed suspects who allegedly robbed a Cash Crusaders store in Amalinda on Thursday morning.
According to a police officer on the scene, the three robbers allegedly stormed the Cash Crusaders store at 11am and held staff at gunpoint before breaking into the cellphone display and stealing cellphones.
However, it is alleged that one of the staff members ran into the control room and pressed the alarm button.
Officials from the Hartwig and Henderson security company immediately rushed to the scene where they exchanged fire with suspects.
No injuries were reported.
“One of the guys was left by the getaway car they used and hijacked a car in the nearby carwash,” the source said.
“We immediately found the car by Woolwash road where the suspect abandoned it.”
The shop is situated inside the Amalinda shopping complex.
This is a developing story.
