The family of slain Gqeberha mom Vanessa van Rensburg have spoken out after the dramatic arrest of an entrepreneur for his alleged role in her brutal murder.
Van Rensburg was found beaten and strangled in her partner Rob Evans’ holiday home on Easter Sunday.
Her body was littered with bruises.
On Friday morning, a 58-year-old man, whose name is known to The Herald, was taken into custody at his workplace.
Family spokesperson Dorette de Swardt said they acknowledged the arrest and were grateful that police had made progress in the investigation.
“We are grateful to the SA Police Service for their efforts in this investigation,” she said.
“In accordance with the SA legal system, we respect the ongoing judicial process and the rights of all parties involved.
“We are not in a position to provide further comment until formal charges have been laid and the matter proceeds in court.
“We ask for privacy during this difficult time as we continue to mourn the loss of our beloved Vanessa.
“We trust that justice will be served through the due process of law.”
