A 22-year-old Mdantsane wheelchair user arrested in connection with the murder of boxing champion Zolani Tete made his first court appearance on Monday.
Uzuzole Goqwana was arrested on Saturday for his alleged role in the killing of Tete, who was gunned down outside his Mdantsane home on Friday evening.
Goqwana is one of four suspects arrested over the weekend in connection with Tete’s murder and the attempted murder of his female passenger, who was shot and remains in hospital.
Tete’s two children, who were also in the vehicle when gunmen accosted him at the gate of his NU17 home, were unharmed.
Goqwana is due back in court on Tuesday, when he is expected to join the other three suspects arrested in connection with the case.
Two of the suspects, arrested in Scenery Park, KuGompo City, on Sunday, appeared in the KuGompo City magistrate’s court on Monday.
Their case was postponed to Tuesday for an appearance in Mdantsane, where they are expected to join Goqwana and a fourth suspect who was arrested in Mdantsane on Sunday.
This is a developing story.
