ANC MP and ex Eastern Cape health MEC Pumza Dyantyi dies

ANC Member of Parliament (MP) and former Eastern Cape health MEC Dr Pumza Dyantyi has died. Dyantyi also served as mayor of Mbhashe Local Municipality and MEC of social development. She was highly educated and held an MBA in addition to her medical degree earned in Cuba. Her career within the ANC spanned decades and she served uMkhonto we Sizwe as a soldier and nurse during exile in Angola where she was a section commissioner.

ANC Member of Parliament (MP) and former Eastern Cape health MEC Dr Pumza Dyantyi has died.

Dyantyi also served as mayor of Mbhashe Local Municipality and MEC of social development.

She was highly educated and held an MBA in addition to her medical degree earned in Cuba.

Her career within the ANC spanned decades and she served uMkhonto we Sizwe as a soldier and nurse during exile in Angola where she was a section commissioner.

According to ANC chief whip in parliament Pemmy Majodina, Dyantyi, who hails from Ngcobo in the Chris Hani District, was recently hospitalised.

“We grieve this deep loss and have been rendered much poorer by her untimely death,” said Majodina on Monday.

At the time of her passing, Dyantyi served in the portfolio committee on health.
