ANC national spokesperson Pule Mabe has clarified why former President Jacob Zuma was sitting with delegates from KwaZulu-Natal at the national conference in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Friday.

Zuma entered the plenary when ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa was delivering his political report. Delegates from KZN started singing when Zuma was making his way, further disrupting Ramaphosa’s address.

Mabe said: “He is a branch delegate for this conference. Branch delegates sit at a space reserved for delegates from branches. He chose to sit with branch delegates because he came here representing a branch.”

After the address, Ramaphosa was seen having a light-hearted moment with Zuma.

“There is no big issue between the leaders of the ANC that will stand against the ANC,” said Mabe.
