Eastern Cape ANC's provincial chair and deputy president hopeful, Oscar Mabuyane, says he's got nothing to lose in the party's national conference currently underway at Nasrec, Johannesburg.

Mabuyane has been nominated alongside Ronald Lamola and Paul Mashatile for the position of deputy president.

“Our provincial conference (in May) was a serious one because I had everything to lose there. In this one (national conference) I have nothing lose.

“I am contesting because branches nominated me and I am humbled with that.

“This is a history in making for me, elected or not,” said Mabuyane.

Meanwhile, the second day of the conference had commenced on Saturday morning with ANC deputy president David Mabuza tabling an organisational report, in a session that is closed to the media.
