Chippa United will be looking to turn the corner when they face Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership on Sunday at the Mpumalanga Stadium (kickoff 3pm).
The Gqeberha-based side said have suffered three consecutive defeats in the league, which saw them out of the top eight.
The first setback was against AmaZulu, losing 2-1, they went on to lose with the same score margin to Swallows and they went down 3-0 to Orlando Pirates on Wednesday at the Orlando Stadium.
Chippa are now 11th on the log with 32 points from 27 matches.
The last time they tasted victory was in their 2-0 win against Supersport United and the Chilli Boys will be hoping to change their fortunes on Sunday.
A win against Arrows, who are above them with a point difference, could put them in a good position for a top-eight finish.
Despite the losses, the Chilli Boys can draw confidence from the fact that they are not fighting for relegation this season with three more games to go before the league comes to an end.
Before the depressing results, co-coaches Thabo September and Kwanele Kopo enjoyed a four-match winning spree both in the league and in the cup competitions.
After Wednesday night’s loss, September said the losses had taken a toll on the players as their confidence levels had dropped.
Even more so, the Chilli Boys lost 3-1 to Pirates in the Nedbank Cup semifinal, seeing their dreams of playing in the final crushed.
A win against AmaZulu is vital on Sunday to boost the players’ confidence and make sure Chippa finish the league on a high note.
The coaches will be banking on Gqeberha-born player Sinoxolo Kwayiba, 24, who was named the PSL player of the month, to hammer those much-needed goals on Sunday.
The Chilli Boys are yet to play Royal AM and Sekhukhune United as they rap up the season.
