In-demand Bafana Bafana midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba would welcome a move from Chippa United to one of the big teams at the end of the season.
According to several media reports, the talented 25-year-old from Motherwell is on the radar of both Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
He has been a standout performer at the Gqeberha-based outfit since joining from Pretoria Callies in July 2023 and his contributions have not gone unnoticed as he has earned regular spots in Hugo Broos’s SA national team.
Even his head coach, Thabo September, has been vocal that Kwayiba’s prospects would be better served by a move to a bigger team.
His former coach, Kwanele Kopo, also indicated previously that Kwayiba possessed attributes to even play outside the country.
After Chippa’s 2-0 victory over Polokwane City in East London at the weekend, Kwayiba concurred with his mentors’ recent comments when asked about the rumours circulating about his future.
“Hopefully, there are going to be offers at the end of the season,” Kwayiba said.
“I would be happy because I don’t want to stay long [at Chippa United], my dream is to play for the bigger teams.
“Let’s hope they [offers] come at the end of the season. I can’t mention any big team I want, but any big team [that is interested].
He has revealed his ambition for the league.
“What I want to achieve this season is to score 10 goals at least because last season I only scored four.
“I’m on six now, there are still games left in the league, I’m not panicking,” he said.
Kwayiba is part of Broos’s 37-player preliminary 2026 World Cup qualifiers squad against Lesotho on Friday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane and Benin on Tuesday next week at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Wins in both games would continue one of SA’s most promising World Cup qualifying campaigns as Broos’s team are in second place on goal difference to Rwanda, one of three teams on seven points with third-placed Benin.
